January 2014: Fading Away

strandveld vineyards worker harvest

In a sense it’s a pity as the Overberg – and specifically the Elim district – is lush with colour in winter and in spring.

But there comes a time when the landscape fades to natural earthy colours because it is that time of year.

And that time of year is now upon us.

But it also means that the vineyard is exploding with colour as it is ripening. It means that everyone can look forward to new vintages that are about to be made.

And let it be known that it is one of the greatest pleasures when one tastes a new wine that you have been looking forward to for a while.
