Shiraz SAA Coastal Game Delight from The Great White House Restaurant

As part of our week-long celebration of Syrah, today we head to Kleinbaai for something special from The Great White House Restaurant. Known for their warm hospitality and fresh, coastal-inspired cuisine, they’ve shared a sneak peek of a new dish that’s set to appear on their menu soon — and it’s a beauty.

Crafted by Chef Chris Pead, the Smoked Kelp-Encrusted Springbok Loin on Samp & Mushrooms is a perfect winter plate. The gamey richness of springbok is gently lifted by the savoury, smoky kelp crust — a nod to the sea just beyond the kitchen door. Paired with hearty, herb-scented samp and mushrooms, this dish is deeply satisfying and rooted in local flavour.

The Wine: Strandveld The Navigator

 a Syrah-led blend that echoes the dish’s earthy, spicy tones while adding a generous depth of red fruit and subtle oak. It’s a match made for a fireside table and great company. While the dish is not yet on the restaurant’s menu, The Navigator is already available at The Great White House, so there’s every reason to stop in next time you’re exploring the coast.
