Some of the best Syrah moments happen at the table and today, we celebrate one of those perfect pairings.

Day 2 of 7 Recipe Aged Sirloin with Café de Paris Butter
We’re proud to feature one of our restaurant partners: Char’d Grill & Wine Bar in Hermanus. Known for their aged steaks and creative flavour twists, Char’d has First Sighting Syrah on their wine list — and it’s their go-to pairing for a dish that’s all about indulgence and umami: Aged Sirloin with Café de Paris Butter.
The dish:
Aged sirloin, perfectly grilled or pan-seared, crowned with a slice of Char’d’s signature Café de Paris Butter — a bold, spiced compound butter layered with herbs, citrus, and a hint of heat. As it melts over the steak, it creates a sauce that’s both rich and refined, turning every bite into a flavour explosion.
The Wine: First Sighting Syrah
This wine offers expressive red fruit, soft tannins, and just a touch of smoky spice — a versatile and elegant companion to grilled red meat and complex sauces. The Café de Paris Butter’s layers of herbs, spice, heat, and citrus make this a match that enhances both food and wine.
Make sure to come back tomorrow to see what Chef Chris Pead of The Great White House Restaurant in Kleinbaai has shared with us.
