International Sauvignon Blanc Day | Friday 7 May

By May 3, 2021Uncategorized

Just a few years ago globally renowned wine writer and British Master of Wine, Jancis Robinson, stated: “The decidedly cool Elim, near Cape Agulhas, is clearly capable of making notably fine Sauvignon Blanc.”, and this opinion has certainly been reinforced by the superb Sauvignon Blanc’s from Africa’s southernmost winery, Strandveld Vineyards.

The Elim area was earmarked as a Sauvignon Blanc producing region from the very beginning. Not surprising, considering its proximity to the ocean and resultant cool maritime climate with the benefit of ocean breezes. “The terroir in Elim is so unique, it pushes the vines to their limit and results in lower yields with concentrated flavours”, says Conrad Vlok, winemaker at Strandveld since 2005.

Strandveld Vineyards proudly flies the flag for cool climate South African Sauvignon Blanc and the Sauvignon Blanc grapes produced from the Strandveld vines are used to produce three exceptional wines, the extremely popular First Sighting Sauvignon Blanc, the Strandveld Pofadderbos Sauvignon Blanc-a two time winner of the coveted Platter Five star award-and the highly awarded Strandveld Adamastor Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon blend.

It’s International Sauvignon Blanc Day this Friday and we’re celebrating our favourite cultivar with a fantastic special offer just for you-Strandveld Sauvignon Blanc Selection.

Join us in raising a glass of Sauvignon Blanc on the 7th.
